In this part, we move from general navigation into the practical chart workflow in Exocharts. You will learn how to select instruments, manage favorites, configure chart timeframes and lookback periods, and understand the main chart toolbar elements.

Step-by-Step Guide
1. Opening the Chart Window
From the Home screen:
Click Chart.
You are presented with two panels:
Templates (left)
Select Instrument (right)
Templates are covered later. This section focuses on instrument selection and chart setup.
2. Selecting an Instrument
Click Select Instrument to open the symbol selector.
Available categories:
Crypto
Futures
Stocks
ETFs
Each category is independent and maintains its own favorites list.
3. Connections and Data Feeds
To access Futures, Stocks, and ETFs:
Open the Connections tab.
Log in using your data feed credentials.
After logging in, click Download Instruments to load available symbols.
Crypto exchanges such as Bybit and BitMEX appear in the list. Trading functionality may be added in future versions.
4. Using Favorites
Each category has its own favorites:
Click the Star icon next to a symbol to add it to favorites.
Access favorites via the Favorites tab within that category.
Favorites are not shared across Crypto, Futures, Stocks, or ETFs.
This allows faster access to commonly used instruments.
5. Searching for Symbols
At the top of the symbol selector:
Use the Search field to filter symbols.
Results highlight matches across multiple exchanges.
Symbols remain selectable directly from the search results.
6. Loading a Chart
To load a chart:
Select an exchange (e.g., Bybit).
Choose a symbol (e.g., BTCUSD).
The chart loads immediately using default settings.
7. Left Chart Toolbar
On the left side of the chart:
Drawing Tools – Lines, objects, annotations.
Object Tree – Manage drawn elements.
Templates – Apply or save chart templates.
Symbol Selector – Reopen instrument selection.

8. Timeframe, Period, and Lookback
At the top of the chart, open the Time / Period Selector.
Lookback
Defines how much historical data is loaded:
Examples: 3 Days, 1 Week, 1 Month, 1 Year
Custom values can be entered.
Chart Type
Select how data is constructed:
Time-based (Minute, Hour, Day, Week)
Range charts
Volume charts
Delta charts
Period
Defines aggregation:
Example: 5-minute, 6-week, 14-day
When changing lookback, reselect the period to apply the update.
9. Tick Size
The Tick Size setting controls price aggregation:
Higher volatility instruments typically require larger tick sizes.

10. Chart Settings
Open Chart Settings to configure:
Cluster Mode
Text Type
Candle Mode
TPO
Enable TPO
Adjust TPO text size
Indicators
Footprint
Volume Bars
Trade Size
Delta Bars
Open Interest
VWAP
Stacked Imbalances

11. Right-Side Chart Controls
On the right side of the chart toolbar:
Hide Menu – Hides toolbars to maximize screen space.
Copy Image to Clipboard – Copies the current chart image for sharing.
Chart images can be pasted into platforms such as Discord, Twitter, or TradingView.
