TPO builds a profile from time rather than volume. Each letter marks a period in which price traded at that level, so the shape of the profile shows where the market spent its time, not where it traded the most size. The two readings usually agree, and where they disagree is often the interesting part — which is why the TPO module can draw a volume profile alongside the letters.
Everything below lives in the Time Price Opportunity / Rotation per Price Opportunity dialog, which has nine tabs.
Settings
Min. bar height to show letters hides the letters when rows get too short to render them legibly. Below the threshold the profile still draws as a block, just without text.
Animate life of last profile redraws the developing profile as it builds rather than updating it in steps.
Expand text and Expand clusters spread the profile horizontally so a busy session is easier to read at the cost of chart width.
Elements
Initial Balance marks the opening range of the session — the period during which the market establishes its first accepted range. No. of candles for IB sets how long that period lasts, counted in candles rather than minutes, so the value depends on the timeframe you are charting. IB Line and IB Range control whether the balance is drawn as boundary lines, a shaded range, or both.
Price statistics prints a summary block against the profile. Price statistics format chooses what the numbers are expressed in, and Price statistics short numbers abbreviates large figures.
Profile Open arrow / cluster and Profile Close arrow / cluster mark where the session opened and closed on the profile. These are worth leaving on: the relationship between open, close and point of control is one of the standard reads on a completed profile.
TPO Colors
TPO Letter/Text color mode decides where letter colour comes from. Auto chart color inherits the chart's text colour, so the profile stays consistent when you change themes. TPO letter color and TPO Mono color / outside VA color set explicit colours instead, with the second controlling how everything beyond the value area is drawn.
Add cluster fading fades letters according to Fading mode. On Time, older periods fade and recent ones stay solid, which makes the order in which the profile was built visible at a glance — something a flat profile cannot show you. Cluster fading max / limit sets how far the fade goes.
The TPO HeatMap settings replace letter colouring with a four-colour gradient across the profile. HeatMap colors 1-2 and 3-4 set the stops, and HeatMap color interpolation chooses how colours are blended between them; lab interpolates perceptually, which gives smoother transitions than blending raw RGB values.
Continuous HeatMap for multi Sess. runs one gradient across several sessions instead of restarting it at each profile, so sessions can be compared against each other rather than only internally.
POC and VA
Show POC Ray extends the point of control to the right as a line. This is how naked POCs become visible: a POC from a previous session that price has not returned to stays drawn across the chart until it is revisited. Show POC price labels it with the price level.
Extend VA lines does the same for the value area high and low, and Show VA range shades the area between them.
Use volume for VA POC calculation changes what the value area and point of control are calculated from. Off, they are derived from TPO count, which is the traditional market profile method. On, they are derived from traded volume. The two can sit at different prices on the same session, and the difference between them is itself information.
The value area percentage is set in Main Settings under VA, POC and Imbalance, and applies here too.
Session Split
A single trading day can be split into up to four named sessions, each drawn as its own profile. This is how you separate Asia, London and the US cash session on a 24-hour instrument rather than reading them as one shape.
Show session names prints the labels under each profile. SESSION 1 name names the first session, which starts at the beginning of the trading day.
Sessions 2, 3 and 4 each have a checkbox to enable them, a name field, and a Skip hours : minutes offset that sets when the session begins, counted from the start of the trading day. A session starting 7 hours and 0 minutes in begins seven hours after the day opens.
Override TPO / outside VA color gives that session its own colours, so the sessions are distinguishable at a glance rather than only by their labels.
MP Statistics
MP statistics prints a configurable block of session-level numbers against the profile. It is built from four slots, each with a prefix and a type.
Block 1 to Block 4 each take a prefix — the short label printed before the value, such as TPO: or V: — and a type, which is the statistic itself. Available types include TPO Total Count, Total Volume, Total Delta and Rotation Factor.
Keep the prefixes short. They are printed on the chart next to the number, and a long label costs more room than the value it describes.
Show MP statistics turns the block on, MP statistics short numbers abbreviates the figures, and Text opacity fades the block so it sits behind the profile rather than competing with it.
MP Statistics 2
A second, independent statistics block with the same four slots and the same settings. It is drawn in a different position from the first, so you can run eight statistics against one profile — for example, volume and delta figures in one block and value-area figures in the other.
Single Prints and Tails
A single print is a price level with only one TPO letter: price passed through it once and never came back within the session. A tail is a run of single prints at the top or bottom of a profile, left behind when one side rejected a price area outright.
Show Buy Tail / Range and Show Sell Tail / Range mark tails at the bottom and top of the profile. Buy Tail minimum TPO and Sell Tail minimum TPO set how many consecutive single prints are needed before a run counts as a tail. The default of 3 filters out incidental gaps; raise it if too many marks appear.
Show Single Print / Range marks individual single prints, with Single Print minimum TPO working the same way.
Tail, Single Print color and Background opacity control how the marks are drawn. A low background opacity keeps them readable as areas without hiding the letters underneath.
Volume Profile
The TPO module can overlay a volume profile on the same session, so you can read time and volume against each other on one shape.
Show Volume Profile turns it on and Volume Profile type chooses how it is drawn.
Bar color / Border color and Outside VA Bar / Border color set the fills and outlines inside and outside the value area. Hollow borders draws outlines only, which is the setting to reach for when the volume profile is covering the TPO letters. Show POC marks the volume point of control, which may sit at a different price than the TPO point of control.
Profile Text type prints values inside the profile bars, and Profile Text short numbers abbreviates them.
Show Delta Overlay adds buying and selling pressure on top of the volume profile. Delta Overlay type chooses how it is rendered — Delta background shades behind the bars — and Delta Overlay color - / + sets the two colours.
Profile flip side draws the profile on the opposite side of the session, and Profile stick to the right pins it to the right edge instead of anchoring it to the session. Profile max width caps how wide it can grow, which keeps a high-volume session from overrunning the chart.
