Overview
The price and time axis controls — scale mode, axis position, and the auto-scale behavior that determines how much of the chart you see.
What's covered
- Linear vs. logarithmic scale — Linear shows equal price moves as equal pixel distances; logarithmic shows equal percentage moves as equal distances — useful for instruments that have moved a long way (e.g., BTC from $1,000 to $60,000), where linear scaling compresses early history into a flat line.
- Axis position — The price axis can sit on the left or right of the chart; pick whichever side matches the rest of your layout so multiple charts read consistently.
- Auto-scale / fit to data — Controls whether the visible price range re-fits automatically as new candles print. Left fully automatic, it can feel like the chart is "breathing" on lower timeframes — the video's recommendation is to tune the padding so the auto-scale settles rather than constantly re-adjusting.
- Manual scale lock — Locking the scale keeps your zoom level fixed regardless of incoming price action, useful when you want a stable reference frame instead of the chart auto-fitting to every wick.
