Overview
TPO charts can display their own overlaid volume profile — a second, volume-based lens layered directly on top of the time-based TPO shape. This video covers every setting in that panel.
What's covered
- Overlay vs. side-by-side — determines where the volume profile is drawn. When overlaid, it sits directly on top of the TPO shape and matches the same tick size, so each volume bar lines up with the row of TPO letters at that price. When turned off, the volume profile is drawn separately next to the TPO profile.
- Value area styling — the value area can be drawn hollow (outline only) or filled, and the inside and outside portions are controlled separately, so you can keep the value area solid while the rest of the profile stays as an outline.
- Volume profile POC — the volume profile carries its own Point of Control with independent color and visibility control, so it can be shown or hidden without affecting the TPO's own POC.
- Profile text types — prints a number on each profile row: volume, volume %, delta, or delta %, calculated either per bar or per session. Per-session values show each row's share of the whole profile; per-bar values are based on the individual bar.
- Delta overlay mode — instead of adding numbers to the rows, this colors the whole profile background by delta, so buying and selling imbalance is read from the profile's coloring rather than from text.
- Profile flip — mirrors the volume profile so it draws in the opposite direction. This is useful for comparing volume-based and time-based structure side by side and spotting where the two disagree.
- Stick to right — pushes the volume profile up against the TPO letters, removing the gap that otherwise sits between the profile and the TPO shape.
- Why this view is useful — comparing where volume is concentrated against where time is concentrated in the same session can reveal levels where the two disagree — a level price spent a lot of time at without necessarily trading much volume there, or vice versa.
