The entry point to TPO charts — what the letters mean, how they build a profile, and the handful of settings you need before anything else makes sense.
What's covered
- The one-line way to understand TPO — if you already understand volume profile (where volume is concentrated), TPO is the same idea with volume swapped out for time: where price spent the most time, letter by letter, period by period.
- Letters = fixed time periods — each letter (A, B, C… through X, then lowercase) represents one period, commonly 30 minutes. Expanding the blocks shows exactly which letter corresponds to which 30-minute candle; collapsing them merges everything into one profile shape.
- TPO tick size is separate from your chart's tick size — a setting the video flags explicitly, since it's easy to assume they're linked. Matching your TPO tick size to your cluster tick size (e.g., both at 50) keeps the two views visually aligned.
- A common default — the video's own regular setup for BTCUSD is a 30-minute, 50-tick TPO profile, adjusted from there depending on the instrument's volatility.
- Removing the overlay — if you want a TPO profile on its own with no candle or cluster underneath, both can be set to "none" independently.
