Overview

A walkthrough of the look-back period and the chart-type selector — the first two settings you adjust on any new chart.

What's covered

  • Set the Lookback — determines how much history is loaded onto the chart. Alongside the presets, you can type a custom value (e.g., "3D", "1W", "1M", "1Y").
  • Pick a time-based Type — millisecond, second, minute, hour, day, week, and month. The Type sets the unit of time each candle measures, so a new candle closes on that unit regardless of price action.
  • Enter a custom Period — each time-based type accepts a custom rotational period in addition to the standard presets, so you can run a 300ms chart or an unusual "134 second" chart.
  • Reselect the Period after changing the Lookback — changing the lookback period alone doesn't reload the chart. Reselect the period/timeframe afterward for the new lookback to take effect.
  • Custom periods persist — once you add a custom period, it stays available to select again later. It isn't tied to favorites, and it reloads automatically the next time you load a template that used it.
